As you bike from Carmichael (if you start there) toward Discovery Park, enjoy views along the American River Parkway Bike Trail (photo below).
Exiting Discovery Park proceed west along the (appropriately named) Garden Highway (photos below).

Turn right onto Power Line Road, cross I-5, and bike past Sacramento International Airport (photo below).

After Riego Road, turn left onto Pleasant Grove Road and proceed 13 miles along Sutter County's rice fields (photo below).

After several turns, cross the Bear River on Hwy 70. Then turn onto Feather River Blvd and continue north twelve miles along croplands and orchards (photos below).

Feather River Blvd terminates in Marysville, and you then will take several twists and turns riding through town (CAUTION: traffic may be heavy).
PLEASE NOTE that, as Marysville offers the only food between Sacramento and Oroville, you will need to carry food & fluids for this trip.
The course is very rural and offers great views of the quiet farmlands which dominate much of the northern Sacramento Valley.
For some distance north of Marysville the Sutter Buttes dominate views to the west (photo below).

Rice fields line both sides of the first few roads north of Marysville (photos below).

Eventually you will arrive in Oroville (food available, at last!). The first few miles north of Oroville are dominated by Table Mountain to the east (photo below).

Countryside between Oroville and Chico is relatively undeveloped.
As on the rest of this journey, terrain here is relatively flat (only 1,345' climbing over 122 miles!).
After 122 miles arrive in Chico.
